We nicked Milo's nail.
We never forgot that sound.
It was supposed to be a calm Sunday morning. Milo, our Golden Retriever had been squirming through nail trims for months. We'd watched every tutorial, tried every clipper on the market. We genuinely thought we had it under control.
Then we cut too close. Milo yelped and pulled away, looking at us with those wide, confused eyes. We felt awful. Not because it was a serious injury but because it didn't have to happen at all.
That moment sent us searching for better tools. What we found were products that were either cheap and flimsy, or built for professional groomers not for people at home who just want to care for their pet without the stress, the guilt, or the struggle.
That gap was the beginning of Viyapets.

2020 — The research year
We tested everything
James obsessed over product design and sourcing. Emma focused on the experience — how it should feel in your hand, how your pet should react. Every product had to pass one test: would Milo stay calm?
2021 — Viyapets is born
Launched from the living room
We launched with Milo asleep under the desk — finally relaxed during a grooming session for the first time. No investors, no fancy office. Just two people who believed home grooming deserved better.
